Lifing shoes4/19/2023 ![]() However, as Ive discussed in a previous blog this issue is related to my cerebral palsy- People with tight achilles tendons will need larger heels to help improve the ankle range of movement. I think I would have benefitted from a slightly higher heel because I did feel some tightness around my achilles. They felt secure and I easily managed to hit depth with all my squats -something I cannot do when I am squatting flat footed/in normal trainers. I then tested them whilst doing some squats for volume doing 4 x 8 40kg. I do think they helped- the heel really helped improve the flexibility of my ankles. I wasn’t sure if the heel would impact my lift but I actually found them very comfortable and amazingly the first time trying them on I managed a deadlift PB of 3x3 81kg. Some prefer doing deadlifts without shoes but I prefer wearing a shoe because I have cerebral palsy and it helps my feet and ankles feel sturdy. Ive worn them for about 6 weeks and have not had any blisters. They felt super comfy and I had no problems breaking them in. I was particularly surprised at how light they felt. I purchased the green coloured version and loved how they look. The Asics Lift Master Lite has a single strap which helps greater flexibility for the lifter when compared to a typical two strap design. The shoe also has a spacious toe box that allows the shoes their extra flexibility great for those with bunions!. Especially good when doing crossfit or exercises which include jumping/speed This lightweight mesh helps to give a breathable feel to the pair and keeps the weight of the shoe down. The heel of the Asics lite is made from Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and has a rubber lining the bottom of the outsole, making power delivery excellent, a TPU heal is far more durable than most other heel offerings and should therefore last for a long time.Īsics provide an upper that is made of synthetic leather with no-sew overlays including a lightweight mesh vamp. So if you prefer to train with a gradual incline then these lifting shoes are perfect! the Asics heel is a gradual, rather then a steep drop. What I noted the most about the Asics heel, is the drop. The Asics lite offers a heel of roughly 1.88cm which is the standard heel height for most weightlifters wanting a lifting shoe to aid in squat depths. This is particularly useful for people new for weight lifting, those who enjoy cross fit amongst seasoned lifters. The shoes are very light and weighs 476 grams in total. At £65 you would think it is budget lifting shoe but it is far from it!. I couldn’t believe how cheap the Asics Lift Master Lite weightlifting shoe is. However, this may change in the future so do keep a tab on things! In the meantime, you can order them online from North America/Canada. Sadly the ASICS lift master lite are currently not available to purchase from the European ASICs website. Lifting shoes have a slightly elevated heel which helps increases the flexibility of the achilles tendon which helps you get more out of the exercises that you do. Some Weight lifting shoes are designed for squats but others (like the ASICS lift master lite) are designed to be used for many different many different types of weightlifting e.g. The sponge in running trainers absorbs some of the force generated by lifting weights- so essentially weightlifting shoe’s can give you more power when lifting weight. This gives more flexibility to the achilles tendon and the ankles range of movement. Using a crossfit or a weightlifting shoe is preferred to wearing running as the shoe is less spongy and more stable when lifting. It also helps to reduce the risk of developing injuries. My bones and muscles are stronger, and it has helped improve the strength and coordination of the side of my body which is affected by my cerebral palsy. I believe I am a better runner because I lift weights. ![]() Weightlifting supplements my running and visa-versa. I also do accessory work-outs which focuses on isolating the muscles examples include bicep or hamstring curls. The weightlifting I do comprises of the ‘compound lifts’ which includes deadlifts, squats, bench press and shoulder press. We all know ASICS for quality running shoes, but over the past few years I was super ASICS have also designed lifting shoes!įor those of you who don’t follow my Instagram account hadoolixoxo you may not know that alongside running I LOVE weightlifting. ![]() In this blog I will review the ASICS Lift Master Lite a fantastic shoe that can be used for crossfit, weightlifting, and working out. ![]()
